Online open workshops

Join other like-minded individuals for an open workshop, led by our senior training team of clinical psychologists and diversity experts. We cap attendance at 15 attendees to allow all participants enough time to ask questions and interact.

All workshops will provide a safe space in which to raise questions and practice responses and a supportive environment for learning, reflection and relaxed conversation. All sessions take place via zoom and are not recorded. Post-training resources are circulated to participants.

Inclusive line management

Next two dates: Tuesday 17th September, 3pm – 4.30pm and Tuesday 22nd October, 2.30pm – 4pm

Led by a D&I specialist, this session is for new and existing line managers of early-career professionals from communities that are under-represented in the sector. We’ll look at:

  • Best practice in line management; supporting underrepresented early career professionals 
  • The life cycle of the CA Springboard entry support programme; from induction to approaching the end of the traineeship, preparing for next steps 
  • The expectations of your working relationship
  • Understanding intersectional identities and power imbalances
  • What are the stumbling blocks, and how to overcome them
  • Support with next steps, approaching the end of their contract

The neuro-inclusive workplace: Scenario-based training

Friday 13th September 2024, 10.30am – 12pm

An interactive and informative workshop covering various workplace situations based on commonly occurring realistic scenarios. Helping you, as professionals in the creative industries, to make judgement calls that are neuro-inclusive – shedding light on how to support neurodivergent team members, as well as the team as a whole. 

  • This 90-min online workshop will cover a number of workplace scenarios related to neurodiversity
  • You’ll have the opportunity to discuss as a group with expert advice from the session facilitator
  • Scenarios will address; how different ways of processing information can impact delegation of work, dilemmas related to hybrid working, and stigmatisation of neurodiversity at work

You’ll be encouraged to consider the different approaches available, think how this might be applied in the context of your own working environment, and hear from others working across the creative industries. The workshop will be help under Chatham House Rules, so all attendees can share ideas and best practice in a safe, interactive and reflective environment.

The class ceiling

Tuesday 15th October 2024, 11am – 12.30pm

The percentage of people from working-class backgrounds in the creative industries is at its lowest in a decade. Join us for this 90 minute online workshop to shine a light on this often hidden dimension of diversity. Led by a D&I specialist, this session is for those looking to take action against class discrimination. We’ll take a look at:

  • How we do we form assumptions about class?
  • Taking a look at intersectionality
  • Addressing barriers to entry and progression in the workplace
  • Challenging classist microaggressions
  • Advocating – how can you be an ally?
  • Practical solutions to class inclusivity

The workshop will provide a supportive environment for learning, reflection, and relaxed conversation. Please note that this workshop is capped at 15 attendees to ensure plenty of time for questions and discussion.

Inclusive recruitment

Wednesday 20th November 2024, 3pm – 4.30pm

Join us for this open workshop focusing on inclusive recruitment. Hosted by Creative Access, this 90-min Zoom session will give an introductory overview of general best practice in recruitment, with a specific lens on diversity and inclusion.

Led by expert recruitment consultant Sarah Bonner, we’ll take a look at:

  • The legal framework and protected characteristics
  • Inclusive language and its impact on writing job adverts, recruitment and selection
  • Having a competency-based framework for interviews
  • Making recruitment skills and evidence-based, and using competency based questions

This workshop is capped at 15 attendees to ensure plenty of time for questions and discussion – we encourage you to come with any recruitment dilemmas you want guidance and support with.

This was brilliant training – only 90 minutes but it felt like I learned so much in a short amount of time! I felt challenged but also I had a lot of things to think about and action as a result of this training.
