It consists of – Sky Sports News, Sky Production Services and the 12 Sky Sports Channels. 

Sky Sports are looking for two self-motivated individuals to join their diverse and dynamic team for 12 months. Here, you will experience 2 x 6 month placements as an Assistant Editor in the Edit Operations department, and then as a Social Media / Video Junior Assistant Producer. Based at Sky Studios in Osterley you will work with the Sky Sports social team that publish live action, highlights, analysis, features and live shows that are published to their social channels on the major platforms. You will also gain first-hand insight into the work of the Edit Operations department within Sky’s Post-Production Sky Production Services (SPS) their Client/Editor service. Throughout this role you will gain experience in media management, basic Avid operation and media storage systems.

What you will learn

Assistant Editor

  • Be mentored by vastly experienced industry professionals
  • Learning best practices to enable the delivery of a first-class service to all of Sky’s clients
  • Acquire a practical working knowledge of Edit Operations, developing a thorough knowledge of inter-departmental workflows and end to end process in order to support and aide the editing department
  • Learn to handle the media management, ingest and export of all material through the avid suites
  • Be able to maintain composure in a highly pressurised environment with the ability to adapt to ever changing situations

Social Media / Video Junior Assistant Producer

  • Learn how Sky Sports produce digital sport video – from planning, through production to publishing and how they tailor the video for each platform
  • Shadow their team of social media producers to learn how to deliver the best sporting action and news to huge, global audiences on their social channels
  • Eventually find, research and make your own content for Sky Sports platforms, drawing on your learnings with them

Knowledge, skills, experience

  • A graduate in any degree discipline or soon will be
  • A passion for sport and media content
  • A quick learner and a team player
