Trainee Promotions Director – 4Creative

Channel 4 is offering a new three-month placement scheme at 4creative, Channel4’s multi award winning creative department. This creates the promotions and branding for all its channels (Channel 4, E4, Film4, More4, All 4) across all media; e.g. on-air promos, social video, outdoor advertising, radio. The team comprises about 40 people, who write and produce risky, innovative and culturally potent work across all Channel 4 brands and services. Yes it’s as fun as it looks…

They are in search of some enthusiastic creative individuals who are ready to learn the necessary skills to make clip-based trailers for television programmes and hopefully help them come up with some great ideas and bring energy and enthusiasm to the department. The successful candidate will be given the opportunity to create work for TV or social media, respond to creative briefs, provide support on promo delivery and re-versioning and have an unrivalled insight into life at a leading broadcaster.

WHAT YOU WILL LEARN

  • Building skills in scriptwriting, selection and directing of voiceovers
  • Promo delivery and re-versioning
  • Idea generation
  • Insight into the workings of major broadcasters
  • Detailed knowledge of the marketing briefings and advertising campaign
  • Script writing and idea generation techniques
  • Development of editing skills
  • Advice from and shadowing of some top creative talent

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, EXPERIENCE

  • Must demonstrate knowledge of basic editing skills
  • An interest and prior knowledge of marketing and trailers
  • Passion for creative ideas and popular culture
  • Interest & understanding of social media
  • An eye for graphic design
  • A desire to learn and improve
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Happy to work with others and a can-do attitude
  • Some understanding of Channel 4 brands
  • Any previous experience of idea generation, scriptwriting or directing would be beneficial
  • Technical knowledge of cameras and filming would be an advantage
  • Knowledge of design software or after effects helpful

ACADEMIC REQUIREMENTS

  • GCSE English or equivalent
