Trainee Junior Researcher – Radio Current Affairs

BBC Radio Current Affairs tells innovative and original stories that both reveal and make sense of the world. They make a broad range of programmes offering analysis and in-depth explainers on big issues and people in the news as well as crafted storytelling documentaries. Their programmes include the personal finance series Money Box, the numbers programme More or Less, and The Why Factor which uncovers the hidden histories behind everyday objects and actions.

They are committed to developing and training entry-level talent and are looking for an innovative, motivated and inquisitive Trainee Junior Researcher to join the team. This placement will provide a unique opportunity to spend 12 months working on a range of programmes made by Radio Current Affairs.

During the placement the trainee will assist with general research across both strand and ad hoc long-form magazine and documentary radio programmes, mainly on Radio 4 and the World Service. This will help them build a strong journalistic background in finding interviewees, assessing and analysing information, writing briefs and coming up with original story ideas and angles. There may also be opportunities for more advanced radio and online production and on-air reporting.
