Oxford University Press (OUP) is a department of the University of Oxford that furthers the University’s objective of excellence in research, scholarship, and education by publishing worldwide.

OUP is the world’s largest university press with the widest global presence. It has become familiar to millions through a diverse publishing programme that includes scholarly works in all academic disciplines, bibles, music, school and college textbooks, children’s books, materials for teaching English as a foreign language, business books, dictionaries and reference books, and academic journals.

They are currently offering the opportunity to apply for their Summer Internship scheme. This will provide the opportunity for those interested in a career in publishing and business to gain valuable insights into a publishing house. It will also be a chance to experience work and life at a leading University Press. The internship scheme is Oxford-based and will start on 1 July 2019 and finish on 23 August 2019.

The internship will give you the opportunity to work full time (35 hours per week, Monday to Friday) for eight weeks within a specific team at the Press. You will work on a defined project during the internship; these have previously covered a variety of areas from science to maths publishing and bilingual dictionaries to technology platforms. The key objective of the internship scheme is to allow you to gain a range of essential skills and work experience, which in turn will support you in your future career.


  • You will have completed A-Levels (or equivalent)
  • Students of all subjects encouraged to apply
  • Able to demonstrate strong interpersonal and organisational skills
  • An experienced Microsoft Office user
  • Confidence to work independently
  • Ability to work in a team, adapting your approach to deliver tasks on time
