They have a coveted opportunity for a Sales, Marketing & PR Intern to join them for six months. Reporting to the Trade Marketing Manager, you will provide administrative support to their small but busy sales, marketing and public relations team across a varied list of titles, helping to reach a wide customer base which includes the media, booksellers, librarians, teachers, parents and children.

From writing copy for press releases for the latest book to having the opportunity to attend launch events, you will gain a solid understanding of the marketing and publicity processes behind this renowned publishing house. What are you waiting for? Your publishing career awaits!



  • Working with the UK Sales, Export Sales and Logistics teams
  • Collate books and sales materials for customer mail-outs,  sales presentations and key librarians conferences
  • Assist with the organisation of annual sales conferences

Marketing & Publicity

  • Working with the Trade, Consumer and Digital Marketing and Publicity teams
  • Organise proof and promotional material mailings to media, consumer, book trade and librarian contacts
  • As appropriate, attend events such as launches in the evening and potentially, in time, school and festival author events
  • Through the PR team and events attended, build relationships with key trade and press contacts in the industry
  • Write copy for press releases as required
  • Source promotional materials for specialist press mailings
  • Update and maintain their mailing databases
  • Assist with the logistics around events – procuring and packing materials, arranging transportation and couriers and confirming book orders
  • Create and co-ordinate the production of all show cards for events
  • Assist with updating their central Biblio system by loading key reviews and award winners/short-listings
  • Undertake research for the press team and ensuring press contacts are up to date
  • Assist with digital marketing campaigns when relevant e.g. Twitter/Facebook/blog tours as well as writing copy for their Picture Book Party blogs as required
  • Respond to any queries resulting from their weekly Waterstones, Blackwell’s and Foyles communications
  • Respond to any fan mail and general enquiries from booksellers, librarians and consumers via their generic marketing and publicity inboxes
  • Assist the Marketing and PR assistant with the organisation and stock control of their marketing and promotional material storage


  • Passion for the Children’s book publishing industry
  • Ability to juggle and prioritise multiple projects and requests
  • Ability to communicate appropriately with a range of people from a variety of backgrounds
  • Computer usage, particularly Microsoft office applications – Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint
  • Ability to use Photoshop and In Design is desirable
  • Ability to prioritise, without close supervision
  • Ability to plan and manage a varied workload in order to meet deadlines
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Highly self-motivated and enjoy working as part of a team, but also very able to work independently
