The Kiln Theatre produces world-class theatre that provokes, entertains and appeals to their exceptionally diverse society in Brent and beyond. They view the world through a variety of lenses, bringing unheard voices into the mainstream and presenting high quality and innovative work, which provokes debate and emotionally engages. Some of their recent partners include NT Live, BFI London Film Festival, Images of Black Women Film Festival and DocHouse.

They are looking for a Production Administrator who will support the Production Department to deliver the technical aspects of all Kiln productions and co-productions to the highest standards. The successful candidate will liaise with visiting companies and other projects as required. This is a brilliant opportunity for a theatre loving individual with experience of working in the production environment.


  • Support the Head of Production & Deputy Production Manager in the planning and delivery of the Production Department’s work
  • Act as a key point of contact both internally and externally, communicating and liaising with the General Manager as required
  • Support the recruitment of all casual and freelance production staff, including issuing contracts and filing signed copies
  • Introduce and assist show staff, including stage managers and costume supervisors, to the building and its processes
  • Book rooms, collate invites and take and circulate minutes of production meetings, design meetings and other department meetings
  • Organise and book travel and accommodation for the Head of Production and other production team members
  • Maintain Commitment Records for all Production and department budgets, in order to oversee and administer the departments ordering/purchasing
  • Administer departmental and technical staffing timesheets and process invoices for fixed term and casual staff
  • Be a direct link with the Finance Department for all matters relating to Production Department finance. In particular, payroll, petty cash floats, purchase ordering and budgets and information relating to theatre tax
  • Lead on the managing and operation of Kiln’s offsite props and costume storage, including managing hires to external companies and overseeing their timely



  • A good understanding of production process and scheduling
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Ability to communicate with a wide range of people
  • Experience of working in a producing theatre environment
  • Ability to be creative and resourceful in problem solving
  • Computer literate (Microsoft Office) including Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel
  • Excellent organisational skills
  • Ability to manage and prioritise tasks in situations of conflicting and ever-changing demands
  • A calm and positive approach with a demonstrable ability to work both rigorously and flexibly under pressure


  • Experience of working in an administrative role in an office environment
  • Working knowledge of UK Theatre/Equity Agreement for subsidised managers
  • A qualified First Aider
  • A working knowledge of current Health and Safety legislation and its application in a theatrical setting
  • Driver’s license
