The Corner Shop is a leading Arts PR agency based in Covent Garden, working with theatre, dance, and opera clients in London and around the country. They believe culture and entertainment have a vital role to play in people’s lives and seek to inspire and influence the public through a range of media communications, across traditional and digital media platforms.

The Corner Shop are now looking for a Press Assistant to join their busy and creative team. The successful candidate will have a passion for theatre and have strong administrative skills. The role would involve a range of responsibilities, including maintaining campaign documents, creating social media content, and sending out press releases.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maintenance of campaign documents, updates and reports as well as details on the website
  • Scheduling, posting and sharing content on The Corner Shop’s Twitter and Instagram
  • Participating in Press Team and Press Assistant meetings
  • To run media night invites, attendance and activity and attend events as required
  • To assist in running photo and media calls and support press campaign work
  • Supporting and providing cover for the social campaigns
  • Building and maintaining relationships and contact with media, influencers, clients, associates and suppliers
  • Administration of press night tickets and house seat bookings
  • Dealing with requests for images, footage and press information
  • Answering the phones, taking messages and redirecting calls as necessary
  • Providing briefing notes to talent and media as required
  • Undertaking research tasks to deepen knowledge of projects and target media
  • To maintain contacts on Gorkana

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, EXPERIENCE

  • An understanding of, and interest in, the media and journalism. This includes digital and new media, social influencers and the evolving PR landscape
  • A passion for theatre
  • Some experience in an administrative / supportive role
  • Confident and able to make decisions
  • Fast learner who can multi-task and is confident in working across multiple projects with urgent deadlines
  • Ability to pay close attention to detail and excellent organisation skills
  • Excellent communicator, verbally and in writing
  • Understands how social media works and is confident in managing accounts and creating content
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Some experience of database management
