The National Theatre is dedicated to making the very best theatre shows on the West End and Broadway, and sharing it with as many people as possible. their aim is to inspire artists and audiences to think in new ways, to constantly re-imagine the act of making theatre.

They are looking for a Marketing Officer to join their National Theatre Live marketing team and provide marketing and sales leadership for this part of the National Theatre’s business. The position plays a key role in developing and executing national and international broadcast campaigns to customers and also cinema partners.


  • Lead the planning, strategy and delivery of effective and creative marketing campaigns for National Theatre Live broadcasts
  • Meeting ambitious sales targets whilst adhering to predetermined budgets
  • Brief their media agencies with campaign positioning, target audiences and budget
  • Manage relationships with domestic and international cinema marketing teams, regularly briefing them on upcoming campaigns and developing co-marketing initiatives
  • Collaborate with the in-house Graphic Design Studio and Content Production Studio to oversee the production of engaging marketing assets
  • Manage content on the National Theatre Live website ensuring all information is accurate as well as monitoring performance of digital and social advertising
  • Work with the National Theatre’s Social Content Editor to create engaging social media campaigns and content


  • Demonstrable experience of all elements of a successful marketing campaign
  • A passion for theatre, cinema and reaching new audiences
  • Experience using data to inform marketing decisions
  • Experience of meeting demanding sales targets, working with strict budgets and tight deadlines
  • The ability to manage varying budgets across multiple campaigns effectively
  • Experience of working with designers and producers to create marketing assets and content
  • The ability to work collaboratively and manage relationships across multiple departments and external stakeholders
  • An understanding of social media platforms and how to engage audiences
  • Experience of a CRM platform, managing a website and using a CMS system
  • The ability to deal confidently and positively with people both face-to-face and over the phone
  • Numerate and experienced in Word/Excel/Outlook/Powerpoint
  • Strong copy-writing and proof-reading skills
  • High level of self-motivation, ability to think creatively and excellent organisational skills
