Fevered Sleep’s mission is to make intelligent, provocative and distinctive art for adults and children, through processes of research, collaboration, participation and experimentation, in forms as diverse as performance, installation, film, books and digital art. Their work appears in a wide range of places and contexts, across the UK and beyond.

They are looking for an Executive Director who can oversee and ensure Fevered Sleep’s strategic direction and financial stability, working closely with the CEO to develop a business model that underpins the artistic vision. The ideal candidate will be a passionate, dynamic leader with experience of working at senior level in the arts. Proven success in public and, private sector fundraising along with an experience of financial management are also essential.


  • Oversee the strategic planning and management of the organisation in line with the business plan and in collaboration with the CEO
  • Scope out and oversee Fevered Sleep’s artistic programme from strategic, budgetary and funding points of view
  • Oversee the evaluation of all projects and company activity (including recruiting and managing external consultants when appropriate)
  • Act as lead contact for Arts Council England, Paul Hamlyn Foundation, and Wellcome Trust and to ensure that Fevered Sleep’s relationships with these key funders remains productive
  • Lead on scoping and delivering Fevered Sleep’s development strategy, to include raising funds from public and private sources, including individual donors
  • Be responsible for the company’s overall financial management, including setting annual budgets (in consultation with the CEO and Board), producing quarterly management accounts, cash flow and reserves schedules



  • At least Five years working in a senior management position within the cultural sector
  • Strong track record of raising funds from private and public sources
  • Ability to take a strategic, long-term view balanced with a flexible, responsive approach
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Appetite for cross artform work and supporting an experimental artistic vision
  • An active commitment to equality of access and opportunity and diversifying the sector
  • Track record of taking financial responsibility for organisations and/or major projects, including setting and controlling budgets and detailed and accurate financial reporting
  • Proven experience of successfully leading teams and/or managing staff


  • Proven ability to work closely with Boards of Trustees
  • Experience of international touring and partnerships
  • Networks (fundraising and diversity)
