Soho Theatre is London’s most vibrant venue for new theatre, comedy and cabaret with a fantastic international touring programme, a digital presence and an additional venue in process. Bang in the creative heart of London, Soho Theatre presents a pioneering programme model spanning theatre, comedy, cabaret and artists’ events.

They have a brilliant opportunity for an Executive Assistant to join their team. This is a fast-paced and varied role, designed to administratively support the Executive Team and enable its smooth running. There is also scope to get heavily involved in the Walthamstow venue, and support the Executive Director closely in its plans. Executive Team Support

  • Provide general administrative support to the Executive team including handling correspondence, answering phones and fielding internal and external requests as appropriate
  • Day to day diary management of the Executive Team including internal, external and departmental meetings
  • Arrange work-related travel and accommodation for the team as required
  • Assist the Executive Director and General Manager – Programme, in the preparation and distribution of Board papers
  • Maintain the filing systems (including an up to date list of contacts) on behalf of the Executive Team
  • Undertake research and administration of specific projects as required
  • Organise and book meeting rooms via the internal space calendar
  • Lead on the organisation of Press and Guest Nights for Soho Theatre produced shows and other events
  • Managing Soho Theatre Company ticket allocations and house seat requests
  • Take minutes and prepare briefings as required
  • Assisting the Head of Finance and Administration with Arts Council submissions
  • Be the first point of contact on behalf of the Executive Team and ensure visitors are made to feel welcome


  • Support the Executive Director in the progression of their Walthamstow venue
  • Be a first point of contact both internally and externally in this, fielding queries as necessary
  • Coordinate meetings and consultations with the London Borough of Waltham Forest, the London Borough of Culture team, contractors, architects and key Walthamstow personnel
  • Undertake research on this as required
  • Build and maintain a practical, working knowledge of Walthamstow and Waltham Forest

Creative Team Support

  • Support the Creative Team to ensure the smooth running of activities and events, as required
  • Schedule and prepare for internal Creative Team meetings; monitor and update programme planning documents
  • Taking a lead on the organisation of staff attending the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, including overseeing travel, accommodation and tickets
  • Assisting with the administration of coverage for the Creative Team


  • Demonstrable experience in an administration support role, preferably within a theatre / arts organisation
  • Excellent administrative and organisational skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to engage with a wide range of personalities and backgrounds
  • Good attention to detail
  • Discretion, tact and empathy – particularly when handling sensitive or confidential information
  • Good level of computer literacy
  • An interest in and enthusiasm for theatre, comedy and the arts
  • Friendly, efficient and helpful attitude
  • Enthusiasm and support for Soho Theatre’s vision and growth
  • Knowledge and experience of Waltham Forest would be desirable
