Watts Gallery Trust was established by the designer Mary Watts in 1905 to celebrate the work of the artist George Frederic Watts OM RA. Initially consisting of a gallery, it has grown into Watts Gallery – Artists’ Village. Founded in 1904 as the only gallery in the UK devoted to a single artist, Watts Gallery – Artists’ Village offers a unique insight into the life and work of G F Watts and his wife, the designer and artist Mary Watts. Sitting in the Surrey Hills, it now includes a unique public gallery, artists’ house and studio, chapel, pottery and landscape devoted to the life and legacy of G F and Mary Watts.

Watts Gallery Trust are looking for someone to join their development team. The successful candidate will assist in securing income from a variety of sources including philanthropic donations, grants and memberships.


  • Manage and fundraise for the ‘Adopt a Watts’ scheme
  • Co-ordinate donor events and increase donations
  • Work with the Head of Development to achieve the annual fundraising target
  • Co-ordinate a range of donor events including meals, private views and tours
  • Draft approaches to new potential donors and make direct personal approaches
  • Ensuring members’ details are kept up to date
  • Plan and deliver events and trips to other sites including conducting research, managing logistics and drafting promotional copy
  • Be a system super-user through training and development and supporting staff
  • Manage donor and key contact details as well as processing all donations
  • Work with the Finance Team using income reports to track donations


  • Competent IT user
  • Methodical with the ability to prioritise
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a small team
  • Some experience of and a strong desire to pursue a career in fundraising
  • Strong desire to pursue a career in fundraising
  • Ability to communicate Watts Gallery Trust’s case for support to prospective and current supporters via the telephone, and in face-to-face and written communication
  • Friendly and approachable with excellent interpersonal skills in dealing with people at all levels
  • Self-motivated, with an interest in continued personal and professional development
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Work flexibly and can adjust plans to meet changing and conflicting demands
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
