Content Manager – Podcast and Digital Audio

BFBS (British Forces Broadcasting Service) is a military charity and media organisation with a mission to inform, entertain, connect and champion the UK serving military, their families and veterans. They have been keeping the armed forces connected and in touch for over 75 years, building morale and offering those overseas a valuable connection to life back home. They help them feel happier, know what’s going on around the world, share experiences and build communities. Today, their TV, radio and digital platforms offer entertainment, news, sport and information services to UK Forces (serving and retired), their families and anyone interested in the military. 

BFBS are now looking for an experienced audio expert to lead their podcast and web content strands for their radio station. This dynamic new role will also involve pitching and making content for clients and working with other content creators as part of their Creative Agency team.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage BFBS Radio speech and Podcast content across linear and digital platforms
  • Be a subject matter expert for audio speech/podcast content
  • Pitch for and make content for commercial clients
  • Engage with internal and external stakeholders
  • Train and mentor other content creators

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, EXPERIENCE

  • At least three years’ experience in editorial decisions in audio production
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Demonstrate success in devising and delivering a successful podcast strand
  • Strong, practical editing skills
  • Understand audience insight, SEO and audio publishing strategies
  • Wide knowledge of platform opportunities and rights and compliances around third party content
  • Well-organised and a motivated self-starter
  • Willing to travel beyond London base to gather material and work with remote teams
