They are looking for a Communications Assistant to work closely with the staff team and support Matthew Bourne’s artistic vision by supporting the company’s communications strategy and helping to develop and advance their engagement with audiences.  You will have the opportunity to create website and social media content, engage in press launches and photoshoots and assist in internal and external communications within the organisation, such as creating creative copy for the monthly newsletter.

  • Create content for website and social media platforms supported by the Communications Manager
  • Maintain and populate social media platforms, engage and respond appropriately to comments
  • Write website news stories and blogs as required
  • Take photos at rehearsals, workshops and events
  • Film and edit short films and interviews as required
  • Create and edit assets using photo editing software
  • Collate content and write copy for the monthly e-newsletter and internal communications supported by the Communications Manager
  • Provide support for press launches, photoshoots and other events
  • Track and log statistics on social media and website engagement and report as required
  • Minute press and marketing meetings as required


  • A keen interest in and knowledge of the arts
  • A keen interest in social media and creating engaging digital content
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Fully IT literate and confident of using Apple OS and Microsoft Office
  • Digital photography skills
  • Strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy
  • Proactive attitude with the ability to effectively prioritise
  • Flexible, approachable and adaptable with the ability to work well within a small team


  • Experience of working in an office environment
  • Experience of producing content for web and social media
  • Experience of photo manipulation and video editing
  • Experience of working with content management systems and updating website content
