They pride themselves on also being the fastest growing major publisher in the UK and were the recipients of the Bookseller’s Publisher of the Year award in both 2015 and 2017. Their bestselling authors include the likes of Adam Kay, Joe Wicks, Jeffrey Archer, CJ Sansom, Don DeLillo, Bret Easton Ellis, Jessie Burton and Ken Follett.

They are looking for a Communications Assistant to support the Pan and Bluebird Comms teams in planning and running creative, effective campaigns. In this role, you will be involved in title brainstorms and creative thinking for projects across the two teams and will gain an understanding of the basics of a communications campaign. The ideal candidate will be a strong team player who is keen to develop their experience in the world of publishing. If this sounds like you, then they would love to hear from you!

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Managing office emails, phone calls and requests from the general public
  • Liaise with Pan and Bluebird publicists (including freelancers) to create a comprehensive author availability grid
  • Assisting with review mailings and sending out requested review copies
  • Attending relevant company meetings
  • Assisting with events including the guest list, RSVPs, book delivery and showcards
  • Liaising with travel agents for colleague and author tours
  • Designing social cards as requested
  • Campaign research
  • Distribute daily newspapers and magazines
  • Order books from the warehouse

WHAT YOU WILL LEARN

  • Understanding of the different strategies required for different types of books and audiences
  • Writing press releases and marketing copy
  • Creative thinking and social media design
  • Programme editing and proofreading
  • The basics of events planning
  • Professional e-mail writing and phone manner

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, EXPERIENCE

  • Ability to work within a team
  • Excellent communications skills, both written and verbal
  • Microsoft Word, Execel, Powerpoint
  • Basic photoshop/Indesign/Canva (if possible)

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

  • A levels or equivalent
