The award-winning Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre is a London landmark – a firm fixture of summer in the city, providing a cultural hub in the beautiful surroundings of a Royal Park. The theatre is celebrated for its bold and dynamic productions (The Turn of the Screw, Little Shop of Horrors, The Seagull, Porgy and Bess, The Crucible, Henry V), with audiences of over 140,000 each year during its 18-week season.

Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre is looking to recruit hard-working and friendly Catering Supervisors to join their team for their 2020 season. The Catering Supervisors assist and support the Catering Duty Manager in the efficient and effective delivery of the Catering operation, ensuring that the site is clean and well-maintained and provides a safe and welcoming environment for our audience, staff and visitors.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Catering

  • Assist in the smooth delivery of the catering operation ensuring that all jobs are completed in a timely manner
  • Support the management team in developing income streams from all catering areas and to assist in the development of new activities as opportunities arise
  • Train, develop and work closely with the Catering team to deliver the highest levels of customer service, meet health and safety requirements and maintain excellence in food safety
  • Ensure that an excellent standard of service is offered to all customers, ensuring a positive and warm welcome is given at all times
  • Ensure accurate and consistent accounting, cashing up, cash-handling practices are maintained in line with company procedures, safekeeping all income and reporting any discrepancies where necessary
  • Ensure all catering areas are fully prepared and adequately staffed and stocked for the punctual opening of the site at the advertised time
  • Ensure all pre-booked catering is ready for each show and that the received Spektrix reports required to deliver this
  • Deal with all customer problems, comments and complaints in an appropriate and efficient manner in line with company policy, documenting and escalating as necessary
  • To manage disposables and stock items ensuring that replacements are ordered and stored in a timely and correct manner
  • Have excellent knowledge of all catering menus, promotions and products
  • To prepare the site for the opening of the season and close down the site for the Winter, including set up and programming of the Spa Epos till system

Health, Safety and Security

  • Supervising the Catering Assistants, maintain a safe and secure working environment at all times, adhering to company policy, licensing law, trading standards, food hygiene and health and safety legislation where applicable
  • Monitor all health and safety, food safety and temperature records, making recommendations and reporting any areas of concern
  • Liaise with the Catering management team to ensure any hazards are reported, minimised and managed appropriately
  • Liaise with the Catering management team on stocks of chemicals and cleaning products
  • Maintain a thorough knowledge of safety and emergency procedures, and take an active role in any emergency situation
  • Assist, train, develop and work closely with the Catering Assistants to ensure that health and safety requirements are met
  • Complete all training as required in line with job responsibilities

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, EXPERIENCE

Essential

  • Previous supervisory experience in this department
  • Excellent attention to detail with the highest standards of presentation
  • Ability to communicate effectively with a wide variety of people at all levels in a confident and friendly manner
  • Good written and spoken English with proven interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrable enthusiasm, understanding and experience of customer service and sales techniques
  • A positive approach to customer service with the ability to deal with complaints and challenging situations effectively and appropriately
  • Experience of cash-handling and reconciliation
  • Demonstrable experience and proven track record of successfully training, motivating and managing a team
  • Proven ability to work well both independently and within a team
  • A calm, organised and tactful approach
  • Ability to work well under pressure to meet deadlines, independently problem‐solving, quickly and efficiently

Desirable

  • First Aid qualification
  • Personal Licence holder
  • Basic Food Safety certificate
