The Kiln Theatre produces world-class theatre that provokes, entertains and appeals to their exceptionally diverse society in Brent and beyond. They view the world through a variety of lenses, bringing unheard voices into the mainstream and presenting high quality and innovative work, which provokes debate and emotionally engages. Some of their recent partners include NT Live, BFI London Film Festival, Images of Black Women Film Festival and DocHouse.

They are looking for a Box Office Manager to lead the Box Office team in providing exemplary customer service and maximising income for Kiln Theatre and Kiln Cinema. You will be responsible for the smooth and efficient running and operation of the box office on a day-to-day basis whilst maintaining a long-term strategic approach. Using the ticketing system Spektrix, you will also oversee all reporting, sales analysis and forecasting with members of the senior team.


  • Sell tickets and theatre tokens and take bookings for all Kiln Theatre and Cinema events in person, by post, by telephone and on the website
  • Keep accurate and detailed reports for all events and document all quality processes
  • Manage the inventory to increase revenue and maximise all sales
  • Set up all events onto Spektrix as well as manage the platform
  • Liaise with Spektrix to ensure the system is working correctly and efficiently and rectify any technical problems in a timely manner
  • Liaise with Sage Pay and the Finance Department on the daily credit/debit card sales and to investigate and resolve any problems arising out of the transactions
  • Invoice schools, organisations, and individuals as required and to ensure payment is received within an appropriate time scale
  • Ensure an adequate supply of tickets and to order supplies as necessary
  • Count all floats on a daily basis and ensuring that the safe and any takings balance each night
  • Produce the relevant reports on events as requested by the management, film distributors, visiting companies etc. and produce bespoke reports as required
  • Also to produce various weekly internal reports
  • Monitor the Box Office inbox, replying to any internal and external emails

  • Significant previous experience in a similar role and environment, using computerised ticketing system(s)
  • Previous experience of working with Spektrix desirable
  • Experience in leading and managing a team
  • Highly motivated, organised and pro-active individual who is able to project manage tasks to tight deadlines
  • Flexible and positive ‘can do’ approach
  • Experience of cash handling and managing budgets
  • Excellent numerical skills
  • In-depth knowledge of the needs and operation of a Box Office; its day-to-day running and general requirements and satisfaction of customers
  • Management skills, communication skills, admin skills and experience leading a customer focused team
  • High level of IT skills, especially Excel
  • Troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Good telephone manner and skills
