BFI Network Coordinator

Calling all film lovers! Time to coordinate your application for this brilliant role, managing the Film Hub South East Talent Team!

Supported by National Lottery funding, the British Film Institute’s Film Audience Network (BFI FAN) is a unique collaboration made up of eight Hubs managed by leading film organisations and venues strategically placed around the UK, and is the backbone of the BFI’s strategy to ensure the greatest choice of film is available for everyone. Film Hub South East is part of BFI’s Film Audience Network (BFI FAN) and The Independent Cinema Office is the lead organisation for Film Hub South East.

They are seeking a highly organised and motivated BFI Network Coordinator to support in the delivery of their talent development activity across the South East, based at their office in central London.

The successful candidate will provide comprehensive coordination, event management and financial administration for the Film Hub South East Talent Team and act as a first point of contact for all talent /project enquiries. They will also oversee the organisational, administrative and communication needs of the team. This will include processing financial and statistical data, setting up and maintaining appropriate systems and processes and preparing reports for partners and funders.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Act as a first point of contact for BFI Network/Film Hub South East Talent enquiries, providing information, advice and guidance as required and making referrals to other members of the team where relevant
  • Oversee the organisational, administrative and communication needs of the Film Hub South East talent development activity
  • Organise and administer BFI Network/Film Hub South East Talent networking events, skills labs and surgeries, including marketing, recruitment, processing applications, delegate / speaker liaison, venue liaison, preparing materials, and ensuring the events run smoothly on the day (which may require some weekend/evening work)
  • Work closely with the BFI Network Talent Executive, ICO marketing department and BFI Network team in ensuring that all relevant Film Hub South East Talent Development information is regularly disseminated both internally and externally via the website, social media, newsletters and press releases
  • Create administrative systems for the reporting of financial and statistical data for Film Hub South East talent development activity
  • Manage the delivery from filmmakers of short film production materials and early development documents and ensure the BFI have relevant materials for their promotional need
  • Manage quarterly reporting to the BFI and other stakeholders
  • Participate in BFI Film Audience Network meetings as required in relation to Talent reporting and data
  • Support the BFI Network Talent Executive in their role to proactively seek and track new talent across the South East
  • Be an ambassador for the BFI Network/Film Hub South East Talent team
  • Take responsibility for designated tasks and use initiative and judgment to manage them appropriately and in a timely fashion as directed
  • Work in a flexible manner and be willing to undertake other duties as reasonably requested
  • Undertake any other duties as necessary

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, EXPERIENCE

  • Degree or equivalent experience in the field
  • Minimum 1 year experience in an administrative, events or marketing role
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Understanding of social networks and arts marketing
  • Excellent IT skills and computer literacy with knowledge of MS Word, Excel, Outlook and database systems
  • Proven, highly developed administration skills
  • Experience of financial administration and record keeping
  • Meticulous attention to detail
  • Ability to develop good working relationships
  • Ability to prioritise a busy workload and keep calm under pressure
  • Flexible – some travel, weekend and evening work required
  • Be proactive and use own initiative
  • Ability to work as part of a team
  • A passion for world cinema and talent development
  • A sense of humour
