Editorial Assistant and Production Assistant (x2)

Some of their shows include the global smash hit Gangs of London, the critically acclaimed I Hate Suzie, fan favourites like Brassic, and one-off specials like Roald & Beatrix. 

Sky Studios is thrilled to offer two people a 12-month programme, in which you will experience two six-month placements in each department as an Editorial Assistant and Production Assistant in the Drama/Comedy/In-House Development teams. This exciting opportunity, based in Osterley, will enable you to find out what it really takes to make a TV show!

What you will learn

Editorial Assistant

  • Learn about the submissions and commissioning processes behind Sky’s shows
  • Understand the importance of the editorial brief and what makes a Sky programme stand out from the rest
  • Work with the Development Coordinators to assist with managing freelance readers and scouts
  • Assist the Development Coordinators in updating and distributing internal distributions of scripts
  • Learn to read script submissions and log reports and response

Production Assistant

  • Read and understand schedules and post-production schedules and workflows
  • Learn to read and understand budgets and accurately log crew and cast rates into a global tracker
  • Work with the Coordinators to assist logging, filing and reporting on key dates and delivery of paperwork/materials
  • Help the coordinators provide administrative support to the Sky production teams
  • Work with the Coordinators to help log and track key production spend into spreadsheets for finance
  • Gain insight and understanding of how and why the team interact and communicate with the wider business to get shows made

Knowledge, Skills, Experience

  • A graduate in any degree or soon to be
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
  • A quick learner and a team player
  • Self-motivated, proactive and a positive thinker
  • Creative problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to work independently
  • Good knowledge of the TV drama/comedy landscape and of writers
  • A passion for media content and culture
  • An interest in production technology and processes
