The National Theatre is dedicated to making the very best theatre and sharing it with as many people as possible. The National stage around 20 productions in their three theatres (Olivier, Lyttleton and Dorfman) each year, ranging from re-imagined classics to new work by contemporary writers and theatre-makers. The work they make strives to be as open, as diverse, as collaborative and as national as possible. 

The National Theatre is recruiting a Scheduling Coordinator to join their team. The role is responsible for turning performance schedules into General Schedules which break down the hourly activity in all theatres and ancillary spaces. This includes balancing activity across the whole building, communicating logistics, ensuring efficiency and that activities can coexist. 

Knowledge, skills, experience

  • To own and administrate the National Theatre's General Schedules ensuring to the best of your knowledge that all detail is correct and up to date
  • Alongside the Deputy Head of Planning, oversee and schedule the detail of the day to day running of the theatres. To work closely with facilities, technical teams, Stage Management and the wider organisation ensuring that time is being used efficiently surrounding the performances
  • Have a strong overview of the Planning and Scheduling tools on Excelnet guiding users through available information and resources and provide training where necessary
  • Have knowledge on ancillary activity away from the stages, assess its impact and communicate it through the organisation to ensure all activity is delivered efficiently

Knowledge, skills, experience

  • Good knowledge of the theatre-making process
  • Excellent communication skills
  • An understanding of technical theatre terminology
  • Ability to remain calm in negotiation
  • Experience in Excel
  • A strong mind for logistics
