The Programme Leader role provides specialist leadership for all students on the BIMM Manchester Diploma courses. You will have the primary responsibility for setting the standard of excellence and professionalism and work alongside the Course Leader and teaching team, to support students in all aspects of their personal and professional development.

Responsibilities

1. Ensuring quality of teaching, learning and assessment

  • Work alongside the Course Leader and teaching team to plan and review the delivery of taught sessions
  • Observing and mentoring new staff through the observation scheme or other professional development mechanisms
  • Supporting the development of Teaching and Learning strategies to ensure full engagement and achievement of all students in line BIMM ethos
  • Engagement in the examination process for all students
  • Internal verification of assessment and assignment briefs

2. Active involvement in departmental development and course design

  • Being involved in the review, evaluation and development of Level 3 courses and making recommendations in respect of curriculum and delivery
  • Support the FE Course Leader in the development of course materials, schemes of work and lesson plans as required
  • To support the Events and Guests team in developing the profile of masterclasses, live events and industry experience for FE students
  • Recording student retention and achievement data and maintaining contact with alumni

3. Course Management and Administration

  • Maintaining course administrative records, including student files and registers, in line with BIMM policy
  • Working with the Student Services team to monitor learner satisfaction levels
  • Being available one week prior and post each term to provide support as required
  • Involvement in regular meetings with the FE Course Leader and other members of the BIMM team
  • Working with the Course Leader to co-ordinate and engage in parents’ evenings as required
  • 4. Support for Students
  • You must possess a keen awareness of the BIMM approach to Artist Development and support all musicians, entrepreneurs, producers, live sound engineers and Songwriters to take advantage of this and to work with the Artist Development team
  • To co-ordinate and engage in regular review meetings with students
  • Be aware of forthcoming audition and work experience opportunities and of which students are recommended for these in order to prepare students and record their work experience
  • Regular attendance and support at BIMM events
  • Reporting to FE Course Leader & Student Services on pastoral and tutorial issues
  • Working with FE Course Leader & Student Services to monitor attendance

Knowledge, Skills, Experience

Essential

  • Teaching experience
  • A teaching qualification or commitment to gaining one
  • Industry experience with a high level of professional skills in your specialist field
  • Proven experience of supporting students to achieve within a College environment, FE experience being advantageous
  • Strong leadership qualities
  • Ability to manage own workload and to collaborate as part of a team
  • Proven experience of managing improvements in teaching and learning
  • Self-starter with drive and initiative
  • Passion for education and sharing knowledge to nurture the next generation of talent
  • Student centric approach
  • Dedicated to continued personal development

Desirable Criteria

  • Evidence of course data monitoring and bringing about quality improvement
  • Experience of planning, organizing, and completing projects
  • Experience of effective use of online and blended learning
