White Cube is one of the world’s leading contemporary art galleries, with spaces in London and Hong Kong. Artists featured include Antony Gormley, Darren Almond, Bram Bogart, Tracey Emin, Robert Irwin, Sarah Morris and many more! White Cube organises both online and gallery exhibitions. Currently, they are running an online exhibition on Margaux Williamson; their next gallery exhibitions will present works by Bruce Nauman (Hong Kong), Gilbert & George (Mason’s Yard, London), Park Seo-Bo and Jessica Rankin (Bermondsey, London). 

They are excited to be seeking a proactive Curatorial and Artist Administrator to join their Curatorial Department on a 12-month traineeship. The successful candidate will work at White Cube Bermondsey and will be involved in artist and exhibition administration, research, diary management and travel planning. They will also have the opportunity to provide extensive administration support to the Artist Liaison and Sales team for designated gallery artists.

What you will learn

  • Provide administrative support for designated artists, including liaising with artists’ studios, external stakeholders, Artist Liaison and Sales Liaison
  • Supporting core artist team on execution of all internal, external and online exhibitions for designated artists
  • Coordinating artist / exhibition materials for dissemination, maintaining high degree of communication across gallery departments
  • Collating material, overseeing upload and build of online exhibitions via Artlogic (online art database software)
  • Maintaining all artist related documents and ensuring they are up to date
  • Manage appointments for the Directors' professional diaries (internal & external)
  • Arrange travel and provide necessary itineraries, contact details, and meeting packs prior to departure for both artists and Directors

Knowledge, Skills, Experience

Essential

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in related field
  • Strong knowledge of contemporary art
  • Strong demonstrable experience of providing administrative support within a team
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Good IT skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, working with a database)
  • Ability to juggle multiple tasks effectively
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Fluent written and spoken English
  • Ability to demonstrate initiative

Desirable

  • Previous experience of working in an art related setting
  • Experience of working with digital platforms
  • Additional language fluency
