They are looking for a dynamic and self-motivated Business and Legal Affairs Manager to support the work of the Digital Media department, including drafting and producing contracts for a range of stakeholders for the National Theatre. The successful candidate will report to the Head of Programming and Production, Digital Media.


  • Draft high quality and legally sound template contracts and deal memos for the Digital Media department
  • Negotiate contracts as required, working closely with the Head of Programming and Production and the Programming Producer
  • Take responsibility for the rights negotiations required for the National Theatre Collection
  • Sit on the National Theatre Collection’s Steering Group
  • Accurately report on the status on ongoing/outstanding negotiations
  • Keep accurate and up to date budgets across the areas of the role’s responsibility
  • Work with the Finance department to ensure payments and royalties are distributed in a timely manner
  • Keep track of the distribution of NT titles within the global education market
  • Line manage the National Theatre Collection Contracts & Rights Coordinator
  • Respond to queries and be a point of contact in relation to legal requirements for the department

Knowledge, Skills, Experience


  • Strong negotiation skills and experience negotiating deals and contracts
  • Experience in drafting, re-drafting and amending contracts within a theatre, film, broadcast or digital media setting
  • Good background in legal knowledge
  • Line management experience or experience of supporting a team
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to work on your own initiative
  • Strong organisational and proofreading skills, with excellent attention to detail
  • Excellent administration skills, including knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Outlook in particular)
  • Strong time-management skills, including the ability to prioritise
  • Good team working skills


  • Experience in drafting and dealing with contracts for Artists
  • Experience of a launch or new venture in the content space
  • Experience of working in the Television/Media Sector
  • An interest in Theatre, Digital Education, International Television Production and/or Broadcast
