D&AD is an awards body and educational organisation that was created to promote excellence in design and advertising. As a non-profit, all of D&AD's surpluses go straight into programmes such as Shift, inspiring the next generation of creative talent and stimulating the creative industry to work towards a fairer more sustainable future.

D&AD have partnered with Google to provide Shift, a free, industry-led night school programme for new creatives. They are looking to nurture the next generation of extraordinary creative thinkers through this 4-month, life-changing, career making night school. The night school will cover key skills useful to a creative career in the world of advertising and design such as design, copywriting, art direction, strategy, production and more. 

By taking part in Shift, you will:

  • Be trained by and connect with some of the world's best creative minds
  • Explore new creative career avenues in advertising and design
  • Work on creative briefs set by global brands and build a portfolio
  • Establish a creative network to help you find job opportunities
  • Get your creative work seen and constructively critiqued by industry professionals, brands and peers

Knowledge, Skills, Experience

  • Over 18 years old
  • UK resident
  • Not hold a degree level qualification (BA or equivalent) in any subject
  • Not be currently enrolled in a degree level qualification (BA or equivalent) in any subject
  • Interested in a career in the design, advertising and creative industries
  • Able to commit to 2 evening classes per week, plus occasional weekends from June-September
  • If shortlisted, be able to attend a Challenge Day on 17 May
