Latest grant awarded by the Mo Siewcharran Fund to Profile Books
A £5,000 grant has been awarded to Profile Books to support a Marketing and Publicity Assistant (currently being recruited here). The grant is awarded by the Fund set up in memory of former Nielsen Books Director, Mo Siewcharran, who died in June 2017. Commenting on the Awards, Mo’s husband John said:
“Mo was passionate about both theatre and publishing and felt strongly about supporting people from non-white backgrounds. We were thrilled with the level of interest from organisations in this round of applications and are looking forward to supporting many more young BAME candidates to pursue their careers over the coming years.”
On receipt of the grant, Niamh Murray, Marketing Director at Profile Books said: “We’re delighted to welcome a Creative Access intern to Profile Books, and particularly honoured that it’s under the Mo Siewcharran Memorial Scheme. Colleagues at Profile worked with Mo at the beginning of her career in Penguin and remember her fondly. It seems particularly fitting that we’re welcoming a potential future marketing star to Profile thanks to the support of a scheme in Mo’s name, as she started out in marketing.”
The Fund was established by Mo’s husband, John Seaton, in order to encourage young people from disadvantaged backgrounds to pursue a career in the Arts.
Each internship will last a minimum of six months and will support a young BAME candidate with a genuine passion for publishing or theatre. The Fund is supporting four interns per year for five years. Other publishing or theatre organisations wishing to apply for a grant in the future should email here.
The deadlines for forthcoming applications are as follows:
- Deadline for applications: 10th July 2019
- Companies will be informed by: 17th July 2019
- Internships must commence by: 16th October 2019
Please note only companies with less than £15million turnover will be considered for subsidies.
