Creative Access welcomes 11 new media partners into the family

Sadly, summer 2016 is now officially over. So what better way to end it than to reflect on our success over one of the busiest summers for us thus far? Meetings, marketing roles, reviewing countless CV’s and interviewing a talented pool of potential candidates, has led to us welcoming 11 new media partners into our family. We welcome Label 1, Origin Pictures, Tower of London, Twitter, Les Enfants Terribles, Icon Films, Unbound, Chickenshed, hAb, Inkling, and World Media Rights who have taken on a fantastic bunch of interns.

Label 1 is an independent production company under the ITV Studios umbrella. They currently have two major documentary series in production – ‘The Job Interview’ for Channel 4 and ‘The Hospital: Life and Death in a Week’ for the BBC. Leah McDonald, a Psychology graduate from the University of Southampton has joined their team as a Development Runner.

Origin Pictures is an independent production company making bold and ambitious drama for both film and television. They have been joined by University of Bristol graduate, Rohina Cameron-Perrera, who will be interning as a Production and Development Assistant.

The team at the famous landmark Tower of London, approached us with an exciting opportunity for someone to join their team as a Media & PR Intern. They will be joined by Gina Chahal, an English Literature graduate from Oxford Brookes University for 12 months.

“I found out about Creative Access through the careers team at university, shortly after graduating. I’m truly grateful for how Creative Access have helped me find an incredible internship, in an extremely competitive field!” – Gina Chahal, intern @ the Tower of London

We are extremely excited to work with global brand Twitter. The role – not surprisingly – generated a high volume of applications. Melina Sharma was the chosen candidate, who will learn how the curation team spot breaking real-world news, entertainment stories and trending topics on Twitter and showcase them through the Twitter Moments product.

Les Enfants Terribles is one of the most innovative and exciting theatre companies in the UK, known for their striking visual aesthetics and innovative use of puppetry, props and live music. They were looking for someone who was looking to launch their career in PR/Marketing within theatre and performing arts. Chama Kaala Kampumpa, a History graduate from the Royal Holloway University of London has now joined their team.

Thomas Challand, an English Literature graduate from Nottingham Trent University, was chosen to be a runner at Icon Films. Based in Bristol, Icon Films is a TV production company delivering creative and distinctive films that cover a wide range of subjects including Natural History, Science, History and Adventure. Thomas will learn everything there is to know about the TV industry from a team that is committed to creating engaging programmes.

Unbound takes an innovative approach to the book publishing process by building a closer relationship between writers and their readers. They were looking for an organised book lover to join their team. Joelle Owusu-Sekyere studied Petroleum Geology at the University and was selected as the communications intern.

Chickenshed is an inclusive theatre company based in North London that believes in using performance and creative workshops to welcome and engage communities, supporting over 1,000 people every week. Alesha Bhakoo, an English Literature and Theatre Studies graduate from University of Leeds, has joined their team as a Fundraising and Marketing intern.

“After struggling to find work after graduation, not only was I able to secure a 12 month paid internship with Creative Access, they have also given me the chance to attend some fantastic masterclasses to network and learn about a range of creative industries.” – Alesha Bhakoo, intern @ Chickenshed

Based in Manchester, hÅb is a producer, developer and strategic advocate of contemporary performance, live art and sited work in the North of England. They work with artists, colleagues and venues to create the best possible opportunities for new work to flourish. Toni Dee Paul will be interning as a Trainee Project Manager, who will gain a unique insight into the way a professional arts organisation is run.

Inkling is a forward-thinking marketing agency that connects brands to communities in authentic and credible ways, whose clients include EA games, Wagamama and Bluewater. Taiwo Soyinka, a Law graduate from University College London, was selected as a PR & Events Assistant. She will receive training on how to track coverage and monitor the media, compile target media lists and write copy for competitions and client email updates.

Leila Sen studied Post Production with VFX at the University of York. She was selected for an internship at World Media Rights, is an ambitious and highly successful independent production company. Their productions include, ‘Animal Black Ops’, ‘Manhunt: Kill or Capture’ and ‘World War Two in HD Colour. As the Media Technician/Edit Assistant, Leila will gain a full insight into the way a busy post production team operates.

We’d like to thank all of our new media partners for their continuous support of the Creative Access programme and the kick start they have provided to our interns into the creative industries.
