Intern Stories: Hephzibah Kwakye-Saka, Freuds
One of fifteen trainees to be placed at leading communications firm, Freuds, Hephzibah progressed rapidly through the company once her internship was completed…
Hephzibah moved to the UK from Ghana aged 13 to join her mother, a community nurse who had moved here when Hephzibah was eight years old. On receipt of her degree in Communications and Media Studies from Brunel University, Hephzibah in July 2013 Hephzibah applied for an internship at award-winning PR firm Freuds. After participating in a day-long assessment process, she successfully secured a six-month internship with the corporate media team.
Hephzibah was offered a permanent role at Freuds as an Accounts Assistant in January 2014 at the end of her internship and was promoted to Account Executive in May 2015. Her meteoric rise continues as Hephzibah was promoted to Senior Account Executive in May 2016, to Account Manager in June 2017 and again to Senior Account Manager in June 2018. She said:
“I’m now working at one of the top PR firms in the country, somewhere I would never have dreamt I could be. Most roles are recruited via word of mouth and it’s impossible for those without networks to know about them. Creative Access interns bring different skills and perspectives to the workplace – at Freuds we work on global campaigns so need teams that can reflect this.”
In February 2019, after over five years at Freuds, Hephzibah moved to Riot Communications to be their Senior Campaigns Manager.
